Notes: The King of Colchester's Daughters is from the chapbook The History of the Four Kings, where it is listed as Tale IV. The stories from Perrault are from the first English translation by Robert Samber (Histories, or Tales of Past Times-1729) . The Brothers Grimm tales are from the first English translation by Edgar Taylor (German Popular Stories-1823) except for Hansel and Gretel which is from the anonymously translated Household Stories Collected by the Brothers Grimm (1853). Andersen's The Tinder Box, The Princess & the Peas and The Swinherd are from A Danish Story-Book (1846). Translated by Charles Boner. Andersen's Tommelise is from Wonderful Stories for Children (1846). Translated by Mary Howitt.
