Synopsis: IMAGINE it is the year 2000. Man has solved many mysteries: inter-stellar space has been conquered, and contact made the inhabitants of Mars, Venus and the Moon. But the evils of greed, cruelty and the desire for conquest have yet to be overcome. The seed of disaffection has been sown among the World Federations. Unknown arrowplanes destroy cities, and Earth Senators are assassinated. Detailed for escort duty with Earth's new Space Liner THEIAN, on its first trip to the Planets, Space-Ranger Colin Devenish comes up against the master mind of Karl Vaanus, whose avarice is rapidly plunging Earth and the Planets into war. His cunning and his weapons are deadly, but Devenish proves to be his equal. They play hide-and-seek in the firmament until the better man wins. The threat of war is averted, and Space-Captain Devenish settles down to enjoy the amenities of twenty-first century England.
