Note: According to Paul Witcover's review in the July 2009 issue of "Locus", the subtitle "The Lost Cyberpunk Novel" refers to the fact that the novel was started as a collaboration between Shirley and William Gibson in the early 1980s. After coming up with a plot outline and characters, the would-be co-authors abandoned the project. Shirley returned to the idea in the 2000s and, with Gibson's permission, wrote a novel based on their original idea.
