Note: According to SFE3, "this was actually a Clement novelette expanded by Merwin (who added alternate chapters from another viewpoint) in order to fit Satellite's novel-oriented policy." When this title was initially published in "Satellite" as "Planet for Plunder" the Merwin sections were added to pad the story. The Merwin sections were removed when it was later published as "Planetfall". See Ashley's "Transformations".
