Synopsis: The younger brother of the king of an Irish island, unable to win the hand of the princess with whom he is obsessed, is driven to kill a Silkie in an attempt to raise his status; the resulting punishment of his whole people at the hands of the sea can only be ended by the sacrifice of something which he himself no longer possesses.
