Synopsis: Millions of years before humans evolved, the Zighorottiz existed. From their perch in the clouds, they witnessed the dawn of man. Of all the creatures on the planet, humans were by far the most interesting. Then, from time to time, a rogue Zighorottiz would mix with a human to create a Mixling. Fire in the Cloud is the story of Atarah, a woeful, scraggily princess who saves an injured Zighorottiz. When their needs collide, they mixed and change the world for humans and Zighorottiz alike. They created the Mixling Zmox. Atarah transforms from a sickly girl to a warrior woman while her Mixling son evolves from a needy boy to an absolute ruler. Zmox changed everything; he turned the sky red with fire and nearly destroyed the earth in his quest to bring glory and order. Most called him a disaster that cannot be repeated, but some called him the hero of heroes, a strong leader when the world needed strong leadership. This is the story of the end of the beginning for some and a new beginning for most of humankind and the Zighorottiz.
