Note: Illustrations, unknown number Originally the Cruikshank illustrations were reproduced as 8 plates in the first English-language edition of the novella, Peter Schlemihl (Whitakker, 1823), and were first published as by "George Cruikshank" in its 2nd ed. (Whitakker, 1824, identical pagination). Some editions of the novella contain only 6 of the 8 Cruikshank illustrations, such as the German 2nd ed. (1827). Some ISFDB publication records, including those for both 2nd eds. cited here (2020-03-30), report as contents single illustrations rather than the set.
