Note: The signature "Jean Frollo" was, at the end of the 19th century, the collective pseudonym of a number of journalists and authors working for the French newspaper Le Petit Parisien, used for writing editorials, leading articles, etc. The first one to make use of it was Catulle Mendès (1841-1909), later joined by Jean Vignaud (1875-1962), Charles-Ange Laisant (1841-1920), and a few others.
The BnF catalogue (BNF cb14820688d) only mentions Jean Vignaud in connection with the pseudonym, but according to Nathalie Prince's notes in Petit musée des horreurs, it may have been Catulle Mendès, who was the first and the only one to use the pseudo for some time.
