1945This rather famous paper appears in at least two somewhat different versions. The one in Voices from the Sky (1965) reprints the original from Wireless World for October 1945. It contains four figures and two equations in the text as well as a list of seven references in the the end. A facsimile is reprinted in Ascent to Orbit (1984) The version in Greetings, Carbon-Based Bipeds! (1999) is much simplified, omitting all technical details. Apart from that, the text itself is only very slightly revised. Clarke calls this "my final - I hope - version".
