Synopsis: Saved only by his engineering skills, a rebel against Earth's oppressive political system is exiled for life to an agrarian colony forced to labor against a fearsome climate. When the colony's long-established routine necessary for survival breaks down, he attempts to institute the changes required, but must fight the reactionary resistance of the colony and its social organization.
