Note: London 1911 to 1914 Publishers George Allen & Sons and Swan, Sonnenschein & Co. created George Allen & Company by merger in 1911. The company became insolvent in 1913, and Stanley Unwin (1884–1968) acquired it, or otherwise gained control. He founded George Allen & Unwin, later Allen & Unwin, in August 1914. Stanley Unwin's father and grandfather were printers (Unwin Brothers). He learned the publishing business working for his uncle Thomas Fisher Unwin (T. Fisher Unwin). --Wikipedia (multiple articles, see linked publishers)
