Nesbit, no date Chatterton-Peck was the second book publishing successor to The Mershon Company, a successful printer and binder that spun off its publishing business first to the Stitt Company, who may have released books during 1905 only. Mershon was the first publisher of Edward L. Stratemeyer. These three short-lived publishers of children's books had but were not able to keep the Stratemeyer Syndicate business--including the Rover Boys series from 1899 and the Bobbsey Twins series from 1904.
