Note: New York 63 Murray Street (1890) "All last Winter I shipped, on average, two tons of these books a day." --F. M. Lupton The New York Times 1890-04-20 p16, "It Would Tax Cheap Books": "F. M. Lupton of 63 Murray-street" is "one of the most prominent and most industrious workers against" a bill currently before Congress, namely "A bill to fix rates on periodical publications of books". NYT quotes Lupton at great length under the introductory paragraph wherein it says, "The purpose of the proposed legislation is to increase the postage on all those cheap publications commonly known as 'libraries' from 1 cent per pound to 8 cents per pound."
