The ebook begins with an apparent title page transcript, whose print source is an undated copy from The Walter Scott Publishing Co. as "London and Felling-on-Tyne" and also a New York address. The 1st edition of the work was published in 1888 by Walter Scott, whose business incorporated during the 1900s. The ebook represents print page numbers in the right margin, and those match page count xviii+326 of the 1st edition (see). The ebook closes with a Transcriber's Note, following one line that presumably represents the footer of print page 326:   The Walter Scott Publishing Co., Ltd., Felling-on-Tyne
