    • British Library and WorldCat (BL and OCLC, below) state "1930", which suggests the title page is dated. Library of Congress (LCCN, below) reports "M. Secker [1931]", which indicates title page undated, year inferred or investigated. That may report a second printing, or a mistaken inference. Or 1931 may be the release date (next item):
    • Price from the earliest items found in 1930/31 newspapers: [1] brief review in The Spectator 1931-01-24 p124 (negative); [2] listing in The Bookman February 1931 p340 "Books of the Month: Books received from December 12th to January 12th." There is a brief negative review in the same issue, p339 "Novel Notes" by R. S. Forman, evidently as a spring publication: "Each year the interval between the autumn and spring publishing seasons gets shorter and shorter, and it will not be long before the publishers emulate the newspapers and close down for Christmas Day and Boxing Day and no longer."
