Note: Serialized as "A. Lincoln, Simulacrum" with a final chapter by Ted White added silently, apparently with the author's consent. Dick removed White's ending for the retitled DAW edition. See page 299 in Lawrence Sutin, "Divine Invasions: A Life of Philip K. Dick" (1989). The book was finished in 1962, but was rejected by publishers until White (editor of "Amazing Stories"), accepted it for publication.
