Note: The title could be translated as Digifrank's Education. This piece was also being referred to as The Schooling of Cyfran. The introduction takes about one sixth of the text, the tales told by the defrosted each take a bit more than 40 % of the text. The German variant 'Die demographische Implosion' prints only the third part (thus less than half of the original).

Synopsis: The piece has three parts: 1) A sort of introduction, in which Trurl - with Klapaucius being absent - builds himself a fine, small calculator, names him Cyfrania, and tries to school & educate him. Setting out to seek the source of an ice block bombardement they find a comet from which they free two frozen inhabitants, whose tales take the following two parts. 2) In Opowieść pierwszego odmrożeńca (Tale of the first defrostee) the protagonist becomes part of a royal orchestra whose inhabitants are slowly decimated by a monster 3) Opowieść drugiego odmrożeńca (Tale of the second defrostee) describes the problems of a liberal planetary society that has to face the problem of overpopulation and its ingenious solution.
