Synopsis: During the Jacobite rising of 1745, the Durie family hedged its bets by having the two sons each join opposite sides of the conflicts. The elder, known as the Master of Ballantrae, has been forced to go into exile while the younger, Henry, has inherited the title--but this situation is all wrong and only gets worse when the Master secretly returns.
