Note: Amra uses three unusual names for common fanzine sections. All four were derived from scrambling "Blood and Thunder" and "Swashbuckle". "Thuds" and "Blunders" are used for editorials. "Swackles" are letters to the editor. A fourth term, "Bushes" was not used by 1963.
Synopsis: Amra is named after Conan the Cimmerian, who called himself by that name whilst he was a very successful and blood-thirsty pirate. Conan was a hero whose exploits of swordplay against divers sorcerers were chronicled by Robert E. Howard. Amra is about various heros, mostly of swordplay-&-sorcery stories set in fantasy worlds. Amra was started as the organ of the Hyborian Legion, a group of Conan admirers who met annually at the World Science Fiction Convention; Legion membership was open to all interested parties who showed up.
