    • The ISFDB policy against the recording of advance reading copies has been disregarded for this record, because all later printings include this printing as part of Avon's publication history of the title, an unusual practice.
    • "Advance Reading Copy—Not For Sale" printed on the front and back cover.
    • "First Avon Books Special Printing: June 1998" stated on the copyright page with a complete number line: "WCD 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1".
    • Cover art is not credited, and there is no visible signature.
    • Data for the November 1998 publication is printed on the back cover, including its ISBN, price and page count (384). There is no barcode.
    • The twelve unnumbered pages at the beginning of the book have been added to this record's page count in order to place its substantial contents in the record.
    • There is an untitled letter on the first page (after the cover) from Gaiman to the book dealers for whom the printing was intended.
    • There is an uncredited map on pages [10] and [11] of the London Underground system, which includes the dates of the stations' openings and closings.
    • The bonus story starting on page 373 is only titled "Smoke and Mirrors". It is actually the story "We Can Get Them for You Wholesale", as noted in an introduction printed on page 372.
