Note: == Editors== Isaac Asimov held the post of "Editorial Director" from the founding of the magazine until his death in 1992. In this role he set (or helped set) editorial policy; consulted on (but did not finally make) purchase decisions; wrote the editorials; and responded to readers' letters. There has always been an Editor other than Asimov, who was responsible for making the final decisions on what would go into the magazine, and performing the other normal functions of a magazine editor.

== Bibliographic standards for our entries
  • Volume numbering will be placed in the Notes field with this format: "Vol. X, No. X (whole no. X)"
  • If cover art represents one of the contents, that information will be placed in the Notes field.
  • All generic titles will have the subtitle (Asimov's, Month Year) with the month completely spelled-out and all four digits of the year. This includes "The SF Conventional Calendar", "Letters", "Next Issue", and "Gaming". It is not necessary to place these records into series. Be aware that on occasion the calendar drops "The" from the title. Editors will use the title on the page on which it appears, not how it's listed on the contents page.
  • The letters column will be entered as "Letters (Asimov's, Month Year)" with the author being "various". If there is a letter by a well-known person a separate record will be created as "Letter (Asimov's, Month Year)" with the writer's name in the author field.
  • All editorials, regardless of author, will be placed into the Asimov's Editorials series. Titled editorials will not use "Editorial" in their title record.
  • The On Books column will be placed into a series. Currently, only Norman Spinrad's columns are actually titled, but in any circumstance when the column is not titled use this format: "On Books (Asimov's, Month Year)". If the column is titled use this format: "On Books: TITLE".
  • Martin Gardner's pieces will be considered SHORTFICTION / short story, each having their own distinct title and will be placed into the series SF Puzzles
  • Robert Silverberg's essays will not carry the title "Reflections", but will each have their own distinct title. They should then be placed into the series Reflections
  • James Patrick Kelly's essays will will have their own distinct title, and then placed into the series On the Net
  • Guest essays under the banner of "Viewpoint" will have their own distinct title, and be placed into the Viewpoint series. "Viewpoint" will not be part of the title record.
  • Guest essays under the banner of "Thought Experiments" will have their own distinct title, and be placed into the Thought Experiments series. "Thought Experiments" will not be part of the title record.
  • Gerry Mooney's pieces will be considered INTERIORART, and titled "Mooney's Module (Asimov's, Month Year)". It is not necessary to create a series for these titles.
  • A separate record should be created for all pieces of art. Each will be titled the same as the work which they illustrate. Numbers (placed in square brackets after the title) will be assigned for each piece after the first one.
  • All effort will be made to link each title reviewed in the "On Books" column to the pub's title record.
